Feedback
I stocked up on this product. I have a 13-year-old dog with chronic demodex. I use one tube on her every two to three months and she is doing great. I've also used it on new rescues who were in terrible condition with demodex but are now healthy dogs. Yes, it's pricey especially now that it's very difficult to find but if you have a dog with chronic demodex it may just be a lifesaver. Being a veterinary technician, I've seen every treatment there is but for the hardest cases this has an amazing success rate! We've been waging war on fleas for the past several months. I've spent considerable time and money trying to beat the odds and keep my four dogs from being eaten alive. Tried Frontline PLUS twice, and both times I saw fleas reinfest within a week. Advantix seemed ineffective altogether, as I never did see an absence of the fleas upon inspection. I tried ProMeris cautiously after seeing some "scary" reviews online. I administered the correct dosages to all four of my dogs (large pit bull, lab/beagle mix, havanese and a pekingese) and monitored all of them. Within 4 hours, I noted far less scratching/biting, was unable to locate any living fleas upon inspection, and did not note ANY lethargy, vomiting or other adverse reactions from any of the four dogs. So far, ProMeris appears to be more effective the Frontline, and faster acting. The longevity of the repellant remains to be seen; but I will update with that information. For years our boxer has had a severe mite problem. She was largely bald when we got her from a boxer rescue and while she's recovered most of her hair, we still need to watch it. The cornerstone of our mite defense is Promeris, recommended to us by our vet. If we apply it faithfully (once a month, around her neck and shoulders), she's fine. If we stop, the mites come back, and pretty soon we're looking at $500-1000 in vet bills to get her healthy again. For us, this is just a no-brainer. With Promeris, healthy dog. Without Promeris, sick dog. I can believe that some dogs have severe reactions, and while that's regrettable, I would no more deny Promeris to my dog because some other dog had a reaction than I would deny an antibiotic to my child because some other kid had a reaction. We haven't seen any side effects at all, lethargy or otherwise. It simply works, keeping the mites away and our dog healthy! It's a little stinky, pretty strong stuff, but my dogs have never had any problems with fleas and ticks while on this product.
